Post-Game Interviews
All players and coaches will be available for post-game media interviews following a 10-minute cooling off period. Postgame interviews with the Roanoke coaching staff and players will be conducted outside the locker room unless on the field following the 10-minutes cooling off period. The site of the postgame interviews is subject to change at any point during the season.
Interviews with visiting institution personnel must be arranged through the visiting SID or team representative.
Mid-Week Interviews
Mid-week interviews with players and coaches must be arranged through the athletic communications office. The best time to interview coaches/players is Monday through Friday between 10:00 and 3:00 p.m. All mid-week interviews will take place in the Roanoke College Hall of Fame room, located on the upper level of the C. Homer Bast Center.
Media Credentials:
The working media has seating available courtside and in the press box in the Bast Center and the press box at Donald J. Kerr Stadium, Moyer Complex and Kiwanis Field during Roanoke College athletic contests.
Requests for credentials must be made at least 24 hours before all home contests. Season-long credentials are available to any member of the media that wishes to cover all home Roanoke athletic events. To obtain a credential, members of the media must either call or email Roanoke Director of Athletic Communications Brad Moore. Roanoke College and the Athletic Communication office has the right to refuse any credential request that is deemed not to be in the best interest of the institution or the athletics program.
Following all home contests, those with valid media credentials are welcome to use the athletic department offices to write articles, make phone calls, or conduct interviews. Media wishing to cover Roanoke on the road must contact the host sports information office for credentials.
Photography
Television cameras and still photographers are restricted to specific areas at either end of the Bast Center floor, and are not allowed in front of the official scorer’s table, the players’ benches, or any other sideline position once the game begins. At Kerr Stadium, TV cameras and photographers are free to shoot along the sidelines on either side but not at the ends of the field. All photographers must remain behind the black lines on either end of the court in the Bast Center. The use of tripods courtside/on field is prohibited, unless prior approval is granted. Space for television personalities is available on the mezzanine level of the Bast Center, opposite the scorer’s table. At Kerr Stadium, there are available spots above or the left end of the press box.
If possible, please contact the Roanoke Athletic Communications office at least one week in advance of a television broadcast. The use of strobe lights in the Bast Center will be permitted with prior approval and at any time Roanoke retains the right to halt the use of such lighting. For further details contact the Athletic Communications office.
Statistical Services
The Athletic Communications staff will be at your service with stats throughout the game. All media representatives will be given a copy of the Roanoke game program and updated game notes prior to the start of each game. Additional materials from Roanoke and the visiting institution will be available in the press box at least 30 minutes prior to game time.
Statistics and scoring summaries will be available within 30 minutes of the game’s completion. Media personnel may want to conduct post-game interviews while waiting for the summaries to be completed.
Practices
The Roanoke teams typically start practices around 4:00pm or later on non-game days. For an accurate schedule, check with the Roanoke College Athletic Communications office on a week-to-week basis.
On certain dates practices will be open to the media, but will be closed at the discretion of the coaching staff. To attend a practice, please confirm your presence at least 24 hours in advance. Videotaping for news broadcast purposes will be permitted only with prior approval.
Phone/FAX Services
Phone service is available in the press box for your convenience. The numbers are (540) 375-2253 and (540) 378-5128 in the Bast Center. These numbers may not be available during games depending on the presence of visiting radio. The phones take incoming and outgoing calls.
A fax machine is also available for use by the working media and visiting SIDs. It is located in the main athletics office and is available prior to, during, or following each game. That number is (540) 375-2382.
